Netherlands 2018 Expeditions

Netherlands 2018

In the first holiday week, a group of CTU FTS students were dispatched to the transport systems in the Netherlands. During the trip, students tested the local intermodal environment first-hand, not only using trolleybuses and ubiquitous bicycles when traveling on conventional means of transport. The participants focused on the knowledge of public transport terminals in connection with the backbone railway network, the infrastructure of conventional and light rail transport and, last but not least, the architectural and urban perspective of these key nodes. Part of the excursion was devoted to the planning of infrastructure upgrades, an interesting excursion to the ongoing comprehensive reconfiguration of the head at the Zwolle hub station, which was carried out in an extremely short period of 14 days. The history of public transport, which we took a closer look at in the museums in Utrecht and Amsterdam, also had an irreplaceable place. The expedition can be considered very inspiring, with a diverse view of the transport systems of the country of bicycles and tulips.

During the autumn, we are preparing a screening with a discussion within the lectures of the Railway Company.

The expedition was supported by a program to support development projects of academic staff and students at CTU FTS within the CTU Institutional Plan.
